Watching the Top 10 list and finding that you have reviewed ninety percent of the games there is an unlikely pleasure. Of course, when you follow the Top Rated criterion to select the object of your reviews, taking credit for your choices may be a bit too much, but well. Being self-indulgent every now and then never hurt anyone, right?

However, for the past weeks there’s been a thorn in my side, namely Crunch Ball 3000. You see, I never even knew what kind of game it was, because it wasn’t anywhere near the top rated games in any section. So, when I finally spotted it among the top rated Sports Games this week, I kind of jumped at the chance of reviewing it.

Crunch Ball 3000 comes with a futuristic background story, but I think we can do just fine without it (after all, there are three other games to review as well). The game actually reminds me of FIFA World Cup and others of the like, with a small twist: this is not soccer or any known sport. Developers created a whole new sport for this game, a mix between Rugby and Handball, with noticeable references of Football, Soccer, and other team sports. Other than that, the rest is history. You can name your team, design their jerseys, choose their tactics; pretty much everything you need to be a winning coach-manager. No wonder the game stayed at the top of the most played list for weeks on end!

After that one, finding Worlds Strongest Man in second place is a bit of a surprise. Basically, the aim of the game is proving your avatar is the strongest guy around by beating every world record you encounter in the six different events. You have to prove you are the best in the weightlifting, holding, pull, barrel, car lifting and balance competitions, whether in the challenge or in the freeplay mode. Controls are very easy to use: you just have to hit the B and N keys as fast as you can, which means that soon you will have the strongest fingers in the world (and the most battered keyboard!).

Billiard Blitz 3 is an amazing nine ball game. You can play against eight different opponents, or go to the practice mode. In general, the game is quite novice-friendly. The cue is controlled through the mouse, and intensity is graduated by how long you hold the left button, but that is not all. When taking aim, you can see automatically the trajectory of the ball you are going to hit, and that of the cue ball as well. Fairly easy, or so it seems.

Finally, we have Downhill Snowboard 3, and you know what? RAGDOLL PHYSICS!!! I have commented before how I love games with ragdoll physics just for the heck of it, but in this particular case the game itself benefits from that feature a lot. Keeping balance is quite easy as well; and your avatar can pretty much do anything you want. Rag dolls can endure pretty much everything!
